Diodes Incorporated has released the PI7C9X3G808GP, a PCIe 3.0 packet switch able to achieve the elevated performance parameters mandated by modern data centre, cloud computing, NAS, and telecom infrastructure implementations. The packet switch supports eight-lane operation, accommodating 2-port, 3-port, 4-port, 5-port, and 8-port configurations. Cut-through, store and forward modes can be utilised with a packet forwarding latency of less than 150ns (typical) being supported.
The proprietary architecture employed in the PI7C9X3G808GP packet switch gives enhanced flexibility and performance. Multiple port/lane width combinations are available, as well as CDEP arrangements. Thanks to its CDEP capabilities, the switch supports fan-out and dual-host connectivity.
Features include error handling, advanced error reporting, and end-to-end data protection with error correction – key functionality in terms of reliability, availability, and serviceability. The advanced power management indicates that this switch is aligned with the most rigorous energy-saving requirements. Unused hot-pluggable ports are stored in a low-power state until required. Under full load conditions and 80C junction temperature, the device will draw only 2.9W of power.
The switch is provided in a high-performance flip-chip package, with a 196-ball BGA format. It measures 15mm x 15mm.
